Bulk Editing Outcomes (New Bulk Module)
Managing dozens or hundreds of experiment outcomes one by one is slow and error-prone.
The new bulk module lets you update, add, or archive outcomes in a few clicks—using a simple spreadsheet workflow.
Use this guide to safely export, edit, and re-import your experiment outcomes for faster optimization.
1. Export Your Outcomes for Editing
To start, select the experiment whose outcomes you want to manage in bulk.
Once you’re viewing its outcomes, click the Download button.
You’ll get a .csv
file containing all current outcomes for that experiment.
2. Edit Outcomes in Your Spreadsheet Tool
Open the downloaded CSV in Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets, or your preferred editor.
Now make any needed changes:
- Remove unnecessary columns:
For example, if your experiment isn’t CSS-based, delete the"css_rules"
column.
Remove with caution
Removing columns that are in use will delete that data from the platform for all concerned outcomes.
As an example, if you remove the "color"
column, all outcomes listed in the CSV will lose their color data. If you want to remove data for a specific outcome, just leave the cell empty instead of deleting the column.
Clean up metadata:
- Change
"color"
for “The Complete Snowboard” from"purple"
to"purple-and-green"
. - Where
"has_description"
is empty, set it tofalse
for consistency.
- Change
Archive outcomes that aren’t performing:
For “The Compare at Price Snowboard,” set"status"
from"published"
to"archived"
.Add new analysis columns:
Some products have options, some don’t. Add a new column"has_options"
and fill as needed.Add a new product:
You want to add “The Videographer Snowboard” as a new outcome:- Insert a new row with all details.
- The
id
column is left empty (the platform will create a new outcome). - Set
"experiment"
column to match the experiment you’re editing. - Since this product is a video LP, add a new column
"has_video"
and set it totrue
.
Tip: You can add as many new columns (dimensions) as your analysis needs, and they’ll be recognized automatically.
The example above shows the final spreadsheet with all changes made.
3. Import Your Updated Outcomes
When your edits are complete, export/save your spreadsheet as a CSV file.
In the dashboard’s bulk module, click Choose and select your updated CSV.
A popup will ask you to confirm the operation—review the summary and click Yes to proceed.
4. Monitor Import Progress and Review Results
As the platform processes your CSV, a loader shows the progress in real time.
If the operation stalls or you see an error, contact support for help.
Once finished, you’ll see a summary table listing the status of each outcome:
- Success means the outcome was created or updated.
- Error means something went wrong—export the summary and check the file, or contact support for troubleshooting.
Why Use the Bulk Module?
- Speed: Make hundreds of changes in minutes.
- Consistency: Update all outcomes with new data or dimensions at once.
- Scalability: Add new products, variants, or test scenarios with zero manual entry.
- Flexibility: Add new columns (dimensions) for deeper segmentation or analysis—no developer needed.
Troubleshooting & Best Practices
- Always export before editing:
This ensures you’re working with the latest data and structure. - Leave
id
empty to create, but always fill theexperiment
column. - Check for typos—especially in new columns, which must match across all rows.
- If something fails, review the summary table or contact support with your CSV for fast help.
